5th Class went on a field trip to Ballincollig Library. We had a story telling workshop with Maria Gillen. Maria is a Cork lady and she is an award-winning seanchaí (storyteller). She has won the longest-running Story Competition in Ireland twice, along with various other story telling wards. Maria has a talent for weaving Cork history and folklore throughout her stories. She helped us to create our own stories about the convict ships to Australia. This was a great morning of entertainment and creativity.
