The pupils of Scoil Barra went ‘Green and Patriotic’ today and embraced their ‘Irishness’ by participating in Ballincollig’s fifth ever St. Patrick’s Day Parade. They came out in huge numbers to support their local organisations and marched happily behind their clubs’ banners and flags making it a very special community celebration. Ballincollig town centre was awash with excitement and colour and even the weather remained kind in spite of some threatening clouds overhead. The atmosphere was carnival-like, festive and the mood was very upbeat. The thousands of family members, spectators and supporters who lined the route added greatly to the occasion. Congratulations to the organising committee for providing us all with such a splendid opportunity to unite under the one banner; ‘Proud of and Proud to be from Ballincollig’.
