BALLINCOLLIG MILITARY CEMETERY

Last Friday Mr. Dwyer’s Fifth Class went on a field trip to Ballincollig’s Military Cemetery. A big thank you to Larry Dunne from the Office of Public Works (O.P.W.) for driving up from Bantry to allow us access. The cemetery is the resting place for many soldiers and their families who worked in Ballincollig’s Army Barracks from 1810 – 1922. We enjoyed uncovering their stories and the history behind the graves.
